Montessori Shape Puzzle

Rémy has been working on shapes lately and the Montessori three shape puzzle inevitably found its way onto his play shelves. Not only does he practice putting the puzzle together, but we’ve been using the shapes for all sorts of matching activities.

 

I went ahead and gave the little puzzle a slight Arts Integrated Play upgrade. I found famous artwork that featured squares, circles, and triangles, and then Mod Podged the art into the puzzle.

 

Now while he is working on the puzzle he is seeing the shapes in art, and can start understanding shape as one of the major elements of art. He is also introduced to three new artists: Alfredo Volpi, Wassily Kandinsky, and Vera Molnár.
